Do I have to
do this through my school administration?
1. What is the
SNN Broadcasting (SNN)?
The SNN is a turnkey Internet-based
audio/video broadcast network that allows anyone
to broadcast from anywhere in the world, to anywhere
in the world.
2. Is this audio
only, or can video also be handled?
The SNN system itself is currently
an "audio/video" system. . Contact our SNN
service desk at 866-696-9800 for more information.
3. Is this for
high schools only?
No. The Struzzin Company SNN
is an outgrowth of the largest existing high school
network, Struzzin Company.com. But our streaming
services can be used by anyone. Anyone who
wants to stream is welcome to use our low-cost,
turnkey system. Click here for more information.
Or call our SNN service desk at 866-696-9800.
4. How does the
system work?
The Struzzin Company software development
team blended techonlogies and use Windows Media
Player for ease of use. After subscribing for
the SNN service, you enter your username and passsword.
The software takes input from your microphone
or line-in port on your PC and sends it to our
streaming server where it is available to the
world.
5. What computer
equipment do I need?
For broadcasting, any Windows 2000
or Windows XP installed computer with a sound
card and Internet connection should work fine.
Dial-up connections work great. You will
also need some type of microphone set-up. .
When listening, any computer with
Windows Media Player installed should work.
Click
here to download Windows Media Player.
6. How long will
it take me to set myself up and get started?
If you have a properly configured
computer, it should take only a few minutes to
get set up and broadcasting. It is very
easy. The SNN support team usually likes
to do a test prior to your first broadcast to
ensure success.
7. How do archives
work?
In our existing software package,
archives are saved on your computer and uploaded
when the event ends. In our September 2003
software release, archives will be created on
the fly as the broadcast is happening. In
either case, archives are kept on line for a minimum
of one year after the live event happens.
Anyone can come back and listen to a broadcast
any time they want. They are available 24/7
in an "on-demand" mode.
8. How do people
access the broadcasts?
All broadcasts, both live and archived,
are indexed on the SNN home page at http://struzzin net/. You can also
post links to the broadcasts on your non-Struzzin
Company website if you choose. Once you
schedule an event, the links are known and will
not change. You can do this weeks in advance
if you choose. Once a link is available,
a listener simply clicks and listens.
9. How do sponsorships work?
When you purchase a subscription, you are purchasing
the right to stream. We allow you to sell
sponsorships to support your activities.
Depending upon your type of agreement with Struzzin Company,
we might ask you to provide some time for our
sponsors as well. In our September 2003
software release, you will be able to play audio
spots right in line with your broadcast.
You also can do "live reads". A "live read"
is when you verbally promote a sponsors name or
product as part of your broadcast. More
information coming soon.
10. Are the events broadcast
live?
If you have an Internet connection, then you
can go live with your broadcast. There is
a slight delay (between 10 and 20 seconds), but
for all intents and purposes, you are live.
Whatever you say into the microphone will be broadcast
to the world. In our September 2003 software
release, you will also be able to record events
to be broadcast in "tape-delay" mode later on.
So, if you have no Internet connection at a site,
no problem. Just produce the game as normal
and upload it when you get home.
11. How much does it cost
to broadcast?
It is very affordable! Depending on your
package level, you can broadcast for as little
as $15.95 per event. That is about the price
of three admissions! And this year we are
rolling out our "Ultimate" package which gives
you unlimited broadcasts for a fixed fee, so you
can drive the price down even further. Click here for pricing information.
12. What other schools and
businesses are using the service?
As of June 2003, we've just finished our first
year. It was a rousing success! In
year one we went slow by design to get the bugs
out and make sure we had a reliable product that
people wanted. Currently, thirty (30) high schools,
two (2) colleges, four (4) radio stations, and
five (5) syndicated shows are using our cutting-edge
technology. And sign-ups and renewals are
brisk! Call our SNN Service Desk at 866-696-9800
for more detail and information.
13. What kind of feedback
are you receiving?
The feedback has been unbelievable! Click here to read what our existing
users are saying.
14. Is this for students
only, or can booster clubs and others get involved?
While we encourage students to get involved and
take ownership, anyone can use our services.
15. Can radio stations and
freelance broadcasters get involved?
Yes! We have several radio stations that
partner with us already. Great radio stations
like WAGE in Washington, DC, and KODL in The Dalles,
Oregon. We also have several syndicated
shows that user our services, including: In The
Pits Racing, The Coaches Corner, The Inside Scoop,
The Florida Football Scoreboard Show, and Dave
Campbell's Inside Texas Football.
Also, we are just now starting an affiliates
program. If you are interested in freelancing,
we want to partner up with you! We will
give you our best prices and help you get started.
For more information, contact our SNN Services
Desk at 866-696-9800.
16. How much should I charge
for ads?
We recommend that you charge the same that you
would charge for a program ad or other fundraising
opportunity. If you wanted to create your
own pre-game show, you could sell a sponsorship
just for that alone. There are lots of great
ideas! We have created a forum on our SNN
discussion board to allow our clients to share
ideas. Click here for SNN forums.
17. What types of events
can we broadcast?
You can broadcast whatever you want. That
is the best part! From school plays and
concerts, sporting events, weekly wrap-up shows,
and original production features, it is completely
up to you. All we ask is that you approach
things in a professional and thoughtful manner.
But the sky is the limit and the possibilities
are endless.
18. When and how do we pay?
Once you sign up to be a member of the network,
you will be billed monthly based on the package
you have selected. You will have 30 days
to pay. After that, your broadcasting privileges
will be suspended until your account is brought
current. Email for pricing information.
19. What bit
rate does the SNN stream at?
Currently our basic packages include
a 6 kbps stream. This is sufficient for
very good quality audio. We have the ability
to offer better quality as the need arises.
In future software packages, the quality of the
stream will be user selectable. For more
information, contact our SNN Services Desk at
866-696-9800.
20. What type
of support do you have?
Our support desk is open 24/7.
If we don't answer the telephone live, we usually
respond in a very short time. The support
telephone number is 866-696-9800. We offer
both first-level and second-level support.
21. Do you have
any user forums or discussion boards?
We've recently launched our discussion
boards. This is the best place to find answers
to your questions. Please feel free to share
your ideas using this discussion board.
22. What about
pregame, halftime, and postgames shows?
What happens during breaks?
Our September 2003 release will allow
our broadcasters to play a "canned" pre-game and
halftime show. Struzzin Company will provide this at
no extra charge. As an alternative, you
always have the option of producing your own special
features. During breaks, you will have the
ability to play commercial spots and other pre-recorded
segments.
23. Do I have
to do this through my school administration?
We always recommend that you talk
to your principal or athletic director prior to
doing anything that represents your school in
public.
